For the first time since the death of co-founder Andrew Fletcher, British synth-pop band Depeche Mode have opened up about their future.

A new studio album and a world tour are planned for 2023, as singer Dave Gahan and songwriter and guitarist Martin Gore announced at a press conference in Berlin on Tuesday. "Memento Mori" is the title of the 15th studio album, which is due out at the end of March. "It means, 'Remember you must die,'" Gore said.

All the songs and even the album title were written before Fletcher's death. The title sounds very morbid, but you can also take it very positively: "Live every day to the maximum." Fletcher died unexpectedly in May at the age of 60 from a ruptured main artery

The concerts will first go to the USA at the end of March. Tour kick-off for the stadium tour in Europe is on May 16th in Amsterdam. Six appearances in five cities are planned for Germany: Leipzig, Düsseldorf (2), Munich, Frankfurt and Berlin.

Depeche Mode was founded more than 40 years ago in Basildon, east of London, by Martin Gore, Dave Gahan and Andrew Fletcher, among others. With more than 100 million records sold, they are considered one of the most successful bands in the world and still fill huge stadiums and concert halls.
