The 'El Borril' Nature Classroom, dependent on the Toledo Provincial Council, has hosted this Tuesday the XII Meeting of the Network of Eco-schools of the province of Toledo, in which 41 educational centers have participated, in an act in which They have delivered five new green flags to the same number of educational centers and renewed eight of them and thus accrediting the work of teachers and students in the objectives set in their sustainability action plan.

The deputy for the Environment and the Rural World of the Toledo Provincial Council, José Antonio Ruiz, and the president of the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education, José Palacios, presided over a meeting of Infant, Primary, Secondary and Special Education centers.

The meeting has served to deliver five new green flags to CEIP 'María Magdalena', from Layos; CEIP 'San José de Calasanz', from Los Yébenes; IES 'Las Salinas', from Seseña; CEIP 'La Candelaria', from Toledo; and CEIP 'Jacinto Guerrero', from Lagartera.

These new centers incorporated into the Provincial Network of Eco-schools have been recognized by the provincial deputy for their work, of more than three years for sustainable development, in order to know the attitudes and projects aimed at improving the environment, reducing waste and betting for a healthier and healthier life for all.

Ruiz pointed out that "all the participants have fulfilled the main objective of this annual meeting of the Eco-schools, which is none other than to exchange experiences to promote sustainability in the educational community and meet the sustainable development goals set by the 2030 Agenda" .

The provincial deputy thanked the work of all educational centers, students, teachers and the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education, "which make this meeting possible, committed to the eco-school program and encouraging schools to that they embark on a process to improve their environment and the local community, carrying out actions aimed at saving water and energy, separating waste and recycling.

He has also referred to the great family of eco-schools in the province of Toledo, which add up to a total of 61 educational centers, including three Special Education centers, such as the CEE 'Reino de Tule', in Esquivias; the CEE 'Mingoliva', from Madridejos; and CEE 'Ciudad de Toledo' in Toledo, as well as two grouped rural centres, 15 institutes and 41 infant and primary education centres.

The day of the XII Meeting of Eco-schools of the province of Toledo has lasted throughout the morning in the 'El Borril' Nature Classroom, with numerous activities for the more than 150 participants, including male and female students, male and female teachers, such as the exchange of sustainable experiences on the topics of 'Waste and Healthy Food', 'Sustainable Management of Water and Energy', 'Orchard and Biodiversity' and 'Climate Change, Sustainable Mobility and Agenda 2030'.

In addition, educational workshops have been carried out, a guided tour of the farm's facilities and the green flag has been awarded to the educational centers mentioned, which have fulfilled the objectives proposed in the program.

Similarly, the Green Flag has been renewed for the following schools: CEIP 'Catalina Palacios', in Esquivias; IES 'Los Navalmorales', from Los Navalmorales; CEIP 'Santa Marina', from Magán; IES 'Alonso de Ercilla', from Ocaña; CEIP 'Bartolomé Nicolau', from Talavera de La Reina; CEIP 'Miguel de Cervantes', from Ugena; CEIP 'San Antonio', from Yeles and IESO 'Leonor de Guzmán', from La Villa de Don Fadrique.

All the institutions participating in this programme, made possible thanks to the collaboration between the Toledo Provincial Council and the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education, are promoting an initiative aimed at making new generations aware of the importance of protecting the environment and adopting responsible habits to make it.

It is about promoting environmental management in schools, so that they transmit to schoolchildren the need to care for the environment both in schools and in the local community and, at the same time, convey essential concepts regarding the objectives of sustainable development in young people, their families, teaching and non-teaching staff of the school and local authorities.
