Biniam Girmay has had an eventful celebration on the Giro d'Italia podium. The young Eritrean uncorked the bottle of champagne with such bad luck that the cork hit his left eye. The runner had to be taken to the hospital, so the post-race press conference was cancelled. It so happens that something similar happened to Van der Poel, winner of the first stage, although without major consequences.
