State funeral: Charles III. accompanies the Queen's coffin

The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) has been brought from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey. The state funeral for the Queen, who died on September 8, will be held there. Royal Navy sailors pulled the wagon carrying the coffin to the church. Behind the coffin ran the Queen's children: King Charles III. (73), Princess Anne (72), Prince Andrew (62) and Prince Edward (58).

Also seen in the procession: heir to the throne William (40), Prince of Wales, and his brother Prince Harry (38) and Peter Phillips (44), Princess Anne's son. Except for Andrew and Harry, the senior members of the royal family appeared in uniform. Prince Andrew and Prince Harry are not working members of the royal family and therefore wear mourning suits.

Other male members of the royal family, including Princess Anne's husband Sir Tim Laurence, 67, also accompanied the Queen's coffin, while the royals not taking part in the procession were already seated in the church.

As the coffin is brought into Westminster Abbey, the 2,000 invited guests, including heads of state from around the world, stand. After the state funeral, the Queen's coffin will be taken to Windsor Castle where the Queen will be buried.
