Dave Chappelle: Attacker sentenced to prison

Last May, Isaiah Lee stormed the Hollywood Bowl stage during a live show by comedian Dave Chappelle (49). According to CNN, the attacker now has to go to prison for 270 days. The 24-year-old was convicted on charges of assault and entering a restricted area during a live event, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Attorney's Office said.

At the beginning of May, the attacker pulled Chappelle to the ground on the Hollywood Bowl open-air stage in Los Angeles, even carrying a knife. Security forces reacted quickly and were able to overpower the attacker, who was subsequently arrested. Chappelle was unharmed and the performance resumed after a brief interruption. The Los Angeles Attorney's Office then filed charges against the alleged attacker.

At a comedy show in Los Angeles a few days after the attack, Chappelle revealed, according to The Hollywood Reporter, that he had spoken to his attacker after the show. "I needed to speak to him and know the reason for the attack," said Chappelle, who got the impression the man appeared to be mentally ill. The latter then explained to him that he wanted to draw attention to the plight of his grandmother, who had been gentrified from her neighborhood in Brooklyn.
