Members of the Traffic Detachment of the Civil Guard of Albacete, belonging to the Benemérita Albacete Traffic Subsector, have investigated a 61-year-old resident of the Albacete town of Villarrobledo, for driving a motor vehicle with manifest recklessness, putting in concrete danger to the life or physical integrity of persons.

The COTA central (Central Operative Traffic) of the Civil Traffic Guard of Albacete received the call from the Emergency Service of Castilla La Mancha, whose telephone number, 112, had been called by the driver of a vehicle traveling on the N-301, within the municipal district of the Cuenca town of El Provencio, after observing the reckless driving of another driver who was driving on the same road, endangering its users.

According to what the citizen stated in his call, the person under investigation would have endangered, on at least two occasions, the physical integrity of other road users, by invading, for a prolonged stretch, the lane opposite his direction of travel, in the case of a conventional road with two directions, the Civil Guard has reported in a press release.

Alerted, by the COTA central, the Traffic patrols near the scene of the characteristics of the vehicle whose driver was driving negligently, it was one of them who proceeded to stop the vehicle on the A-31 motorway, as it passed through the Albacete town of La Gineta.

After the stop and identification of the person behind the wheel of the vehicle, a breathalyzer test was carried out using inspired air, yielding a positive result of 0.41 mg/l of alcohol.

During his reckless driving, the investigated collided laterally with the rear-view mirror of another vehicle that was traveling correctly in his lane and subsequently forced a truck that was traveling correctly to have to brake abruptly and move to the shoulder to avoid a frontal collision, without that, in any case, no personal injury occurred.

Members of the GIAT (Traffic Accident Investigation Group) belonging to the Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Albacete, instructed proceedings for a crime against road safety, by driving a motor vehicle with manifest recklessness, putting life in particular danger or the physical integrity of the persons, which were referred to the Investigating Court of San Clemente (Cuenca).

The facts described could be punished, as established in article 380 of the Criminal Code, with a prison sentence of six months to two years and deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles and mopeds for more than one and up to six years.
