«I do not see with bad eyes wanting to make a path, understand each other (with CKD)». This is how the leader of the PP declared itself this Tuesday at the Barcelona City Council, one day after some controversial statements by the general coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendodo, assuring that Spain is a "plurinational" country and hinting that the popular Catalans they do not connect with the society of Catalonia for not defending Catalanism. A few words that Bendodo tried to clarify, shortly after, assuring that Spain, being "an indissoluble nation", is made up of "17 autonomies with their own identities".

Today, for his part, Josep Bou, in an interview for the TVE Catalan circuit program 'Cafè d'Idees', lamented that Bendodo considers Spain a multinational State and defended that "Spain is the only nation" possible, although he considers that «Catalonia is the most wonderful town in the world».

However, Bou has proposed that the popular ones approach ERC, whom he differentiates from Junts, because those of Oriol Junqueras have "power" in Catalonia.

«ERC has changed, but not Junts. ERC is more for the work of understanding. Between Pere Aragonès and Carles Puigdemont there is a spectacular difference. I do not see with bad eyes wanting to make a path, understand each other [with ERC]. And forget things that are already, have already happened. (...) ERC has great power in Catalonia and, therefore, you have to count on ERC and it has been moderating little by little », he pointed out.

These statements by Bou are added to those by Bendodo and the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who a couple of weeks ago, within the framework of the Círculo de Economía, defended, without citing him, a Catalanist proposal for the PP, recalling that Catalonia is a "nationality" based on the Constitution and the Statute of Autonomy. A position that caused some discomfort in the bases of the popular in the community and in some middle cadres of the party throughout Spain, as reported by ABC this Tuesday.

On the other hand, Bou, asked about the possibility of heading the PP list again in the Barcelona municipal elections next year, the businessman, who appeared on the popular list in 2019 as an independent, recalled that it does not depend of him to repeat in office. "I'm pretty calm. I would repeat with one condition: that the municipal group support me and the Catalan PP support me. I would like to feel more supported by Alejandro Fernández », he added, referring to the president of the Catalan PP.
