Impulso Ciudadano sees censorship in the Catalan “language pact”.

Impulso Ciudadano, one of the historical entities in Catalonia in defense of bilingualism, has denounced this Friday that the Secretary of Language Policy of the Generalitat de Catalunyales has vetoed a study that they wanted to contribute to the public process, and open to participation, of the so-called Pact National for the Language, around the situation of Catalan.

The reason given by that body dependent on the Ministry of Culture is that the document presented with the title Languages and Coexistence in Catalonia "does not fit the objectives with which the Participatory Process" of the Pact for Language is publicly formulated. The aforementioned pact was launched in the midst of the controversy over the application of 25% of Spanish

in the classrooms, with the aim of presenting a front from which, obviously and as it is now confirmed, the defenders of bilingualism are excluded.

"The censorship applied to the study of Impulso Ciudadano is based, thus, on the confession that it is a process of public participation with the cards marked: the objectives are predetermined", sentenced the entity. The document that Impulso Ciudadano intended to incorporate is based on the premise that "Catalan is not the heritage of Catalan nationalists or institutions."
