The president of the Catalan PP, Alejandro Fernández, has sent a message to Genoa on Tuesday in view of the planned renewal of the autonomous bodies of the party and, specifically, of the congress of the popular people of Catalonia: «The citizens do not reproach us for lack of empathy with nationalism, they tell us that they have felt systematically abandoned by the different governments».

During his speech at the Europa Tribuna Catalunya Forum, Fernández warned that "making mistakes is not the same as cooperating with the independence movement", which is, in his opinion, what Pedro Sánchez, President of the Government, does. And he added that "restoring equal rights and opportunities" for constitutionalists and independentists will be "the task" of the next government, which he has predicted will be led by Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

"The nationalists have everything and the Catalans who feel Spanish have nothing," said Fernández, who also indicated that the nationalists only get "perks" from the government and the constitutionalists "humiliations." The leader of the Catalan PP has been very critical of the PSOE for collaborating with the independence movement, for which he has defended that "this task must be undertaken by the PP, as it is autonomist, pro-European and clearly constitutionalist".

Before Esteban González Pons, institutional deputy general secretary of the PP and spokesman for the popular Spanish in the European Parliament until 2019, who has presented Fernández highlighting his "courage", "humility", "intelligence" and "good humor", in addition being one of the three best parliamentarians he has known in his political career, the leader of the Catalan PP has recognized that, as it is not a "procedural" party and is a party "with a vocation for government", the PP "suffers in the Polarization".

Hence, a large part of his speech focused on warning that "ending the 'procés' is our wish, because the 'procés' is not over". In his opinion, "the PSOE has proposed a massive deception, it has sold that the process is over", with pardons, for example, but in reality "it has mutated", as evidenced by the dismissal of the director of the National Intelligence Center ( CNI).

“It will not be expressed as in 2017. There will be no squatting of State buildings, but a strategy of erosion of the great institutions that stopped the coup is already taking place, read the Crown, the State Security Forces and Bodies, Justice and the CNI. It is a more sneaky strategy », he warned.

Hence, the position of the PP in Catalonia is transcendental, in the opinion of the president of the popular community. «It has cost us more than could be expected to recover the trust of many people who had voted for us and had stopped doing so. With the Catalan PP you will never feel alone again », he added.

During his speech, Alejandro Fernández summoned Jaume Vicens Vives, Josep Tarradellas and José María Aznar and was accompanied by the leadership of the Catalan PP, as well as the leader of the conservatives in the Barcelona City Council, Josep Bou, and, among others, of the deputies in the Congress, María de los Llanos de Luna and Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, as well as representatives of entities and associations of Catalonia.
