MacKenzie Scott: Almost $85 million to Girl Scouts

Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, 52, is supporting the Girl Scouts of the USA with a $84.5 million donation. The Girl Scout organization announced this on October 18th. The equivalent of more than 85 million euros is the largest donation by a single person in the history of the organization.

"We are excited to demonstrate how Ms. Scott's investment in girls will change the world - because where one girl thrives, we all thrive," said Sofia Chang, CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA in a statement. According to a statement, the donation should make it possible not only to expand the organization's efforts, but also to help it recover from the effects of the corona pandemic.

Businesswoman Scott is the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos (58). According to the "Bloomberg Billionaires Index", she is currently one of the 50 richest people in the world. While she is currently ranked 41st with an estimated fortune of around 27.6 billion US dollars, her ex-husband ranks third with around 137 billion dollars.

Last December, Forbes magazine named Scott one of the most powerful women in the world for 2021. She has a history of giving generously to charitable organizations, including approximately $436 million to the non-profit organization Habitat for Humanity in spring 2022.
