Actor: Daniel Craig receives the same medal as James Bond

James Bond actor Daniel Craig has been awarded a medal, which his portrayed Agent 007 also wears. The 54-year-old received the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George from Princess Anne (72) on Tuesday at Windsor Castle.

He was thus honored for his "extraordinary contribution to film and theater" and can now call himself Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George (CMG). A photo from the ceremony was posted on the royal family's Twitter account, showing Craig receiving the order from the Princess Royal.

"We've been expecting you..." (We've been expecting you...) it said - an allusion to the Bond films in which, among other things, villain Blofeld says this sentence to the famous secret agent.

Daniel Craig starred in five James Bond adventures between 2006 and 2021. He also starred as 007 opposite Queen Elizabeth II in the opening film for the London 2012 Olympic Games. In the clip, directed by Danny Boyle, Bond parachutes out of a helicopter with the Queen. With "James Bond 007: No Time to Die", which was released in cinemas a year ago, Craig finally said goodbye to the role.

Craig can soon be seen in the crime comedy "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" on the Netflix streaming service (from December 23). The film, which is also making a brief showing in the US and UK and is a sequel to the blockbuster Knives Out, stars Craig as detective Benoit Blanc for a second time. At a recent London premiere, director Rian Johnson outed the character Blanc as "obviously gay." A third part of the "Knives Out" film series is already being planned.
