After the emotional trailer for their Netflix documentary series, Prince Harry (38) and Duchess Meghan (41) are the number one topic of conversation – and that's exactly when Prince William (40) and Princess Kate (40) have been together for the first time since eight years to visit the USA.

That shouldn't be a coincidence, but supposedly just planned, according to insiders who reported the "Page Six", the gossip portal of the "New York Post". The release of the dramatic trailer is said to be "a coordinated campaign" designed to overshadow the heir apparent's major US visit.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are in the US for William's Earthshot climate award. Friday night's event was dubbed Williams' "Super Bowl" by journalist Omid Scobie. "If tomorrow is Prince Williams' Super Bowl, then you have your halftime show here," he announced on Twitter with biting words on Thursday's trailer for the documentary series. Scobie is considered a close confidant of Duchess Meghan.

A "Palace insider" told Page Six that with the release, the Sussexes were trying to intentionally disrupt William and Kate's trip. Hugo Vickers, a friend of the royal family, told the site: "What a surprise, how insanely boring of Harry and Meghan. But things like that are inevitable. What they've produced sounds a bit pretentious."

However, other sources claim that Harry and Meghan had nothing to do with the timing of the release, but was decided by Netflix. In fact, the couple is said to have asked to release the trailer on November 28th.

The trailer shows unusually intimate insights into the couple's life, including photos of the pregnant Meghan, from her wedding and selfies from trips together. Obviously, however, the rift with the royal family becomes the main topic. In an interview sequence, Harry explains, "I had to do everything in my power to protect my family." In another, Meghan explains the goal of the documentary: "When there's so much at stake, doesn't it make more sense to hear our version of the story?"
