Brandenburg's Transport Minister Guido Beermann (CDU) is hoping for an overall solution for the future of the regional trains RB 73/74 from Neustadt/Dosse via Kyritz and Pritzwalk to Meyenburg. "With the RB 73 (Neustadt/Dosse-Pritzwalk), there is no question that the section between Neustadt/Dosse and Kyritz will continue. We have 400 passengers there every day," he told the German Press Agency. "Between Kyritz and Pritzwalk, on the other hand, only 20 passengers travel a day." From Pritzwalk to Meyenburg (RB 74) there are 100 passengers. "This is a route that is also important for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. That's why we're talking about it there." Looking at all sections, he said: "I am confident that we will find a solution there."

The draft of the regional transport plan for Brandenburg for 2023 to 2027 does not yet include the section of the RB 73 from Kyritz to Pritzwalk and the RB 74 Pritzwalk to Meyenburg. On Monday, the district administrators of the Prignitz and Ostprignitz-Ruppin districts, Christian Müller and Ralf Reinhardt (both SPD), want to present an expert report on the preservation of both lines with the former Deutsche Bahn Group Commissioner for Brandenburg, Hans Leister. The left faction demands the preservation of the routes and an extension to Güstrow. The state parliament is expected to debate this on Friday. In July, Finance Minister Katrin Lange (SPD) advocated maintaining rural railway lines, even if they may be unprofitable.
