“We are expecting a very good season. We surveyed our members recently to find out the prognosis for reservations, explains the expert. There are about 50% who told us that they were lining up for a season similar to last year, which was an excellent season. There is another 30% who told us to align themselves with a superior season. We can therefore say that 80% of our members expect a good season, equal or better, which is excellent for us. »

The organization is in the process of updating its study on the practice of camping and its economic impact.

“This year, as we are not going to experience the closing and reopening of borders, we will therefore be able to measure the economic impact of last year and that of this season. We want to get a picture of the situation and find out if the border file has a great influence on our market. In our study, we will have to take into account an important element, namely the increase in the cost of gasoline. All in all, we are still expecting a good season. »

AN IMPORTANT ANNIVERSARY

This season marks the 60th anniversary of Camping Québec.

“For us, this is the 60th anniversary of Camping Québec and the Guide du Camping. We have changed our promotion from two nights at $50 to two nights at $60. You have to understand that it's been more than 10 years since we've touched this price for promotional weekends. So, due to our anniversaries, and to please the campers, we increased by one weekend in the spring and one more in the fall, bringing the $60 two-night packages to four. In the spring, the packages will be valid on May 27-28 and June 3-4. It's a way to say thank you to campers and at the same time promote our industry. »

The fall two will take place in September. As these special packages are very popular, the expert advises to book very quickly.

“Not all campgrounds participate in this promotion but I would say that this spring there are close to 300 participants. Some campgrounds may choose to extend the promotion but these two nights cover Friday and Saturday nights. It is very important that when booking, campers make it clear that they want to take advantage of the promotion. »

The big season begins in mid-May, which marks the start of operations for many. “Apart from the most northern lands or even in the far east of Quebec, the machine is running. To find out more: www.campingquebec.com/fr/camper-au-quebec/promotions/2-nuits-60-printemps.

URBAN LEGEND

Last point he underlined during the interview he gave us, the CEO wanted to provide details on what he calls the urban legend of camping.

“There is an urban legend going around that all the campsites are full for the summer. We have to fight with that because it is not the case at all. Very often, checks are made with one or two campsites in an area, which can be filled. The person comes to extrapolate the same situation to the 1075 campgrounds in Quebec. It is wrong to think so. In the vast majority of campgrounds, there is always room. It is certain that during the busiest weekends such as Saint-Jean-Baptiste or Confederation, there may be a shortage of space in some, but overall the number of courts in Quebec, there is still space in several. »
