Alonso: "There was a misunderstanding with my engineer"

MADRID, 21 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Alpine) has recognized that he has had "a misunderstanding" with his engineer and that is why he has not had time to improve his lap and has been eliminated in Q1 of the qualifying session of the Spanish Grand Prix, sixth round of the Formula 1 World Championship, although he explained that they lack "a bit of rhythm".

"At the beginning of the lap we were all a bit at the time limit, the session was over. I didn't get much information from the engineer either, there was a bit of misunderstanding about how much time was left in the session, I thought we were a second away from being able to go through finish line and yet there were like 20 seconds left. I started right behind Lando, trying to get into the lap. It was a misunderstanding," he told DAZN.

The Spaniard, who will have to start the race from seventeenth place on the grid, indicated that they are not finding the rhythm at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya either. "Since FP3 we haven't been very fast, we have a different part in the car, which this weekend was up to my teammate as well. It was noticeable and I lacked a bit of rhythm", he concluded.
