George Russell and Lewis Hamilton took the first two places in the Mercedes in the last free practice session before qualifying for the Mexican Grand Prix.

Russell relegated the seven-time Formula 1 world champion to second place by 0.144 seconds at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Third, almost half a second behind, was World Champion Max Verstappen. His Mexican Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez finished fifth behind Charles Leclerc.

The Ferrari driver from Monaco and Perez are fighting for second place in the classification. With three races to go before the end of the season, Leclerc has a two-point lead. Mick Schumacher took 17th place in training with his Haas, Sebastian Vettel in the Aston Martin did not get past the penultimate place.
