Lizzie Briant, who competed with Emma, ​​accepted the awards on her behalf and said: "Everyone adores her in the Royal Riding Stables - there isn't a pony in the country that is more loved."

Emma has attended three pageants at the Royal Windsor Horse Show over the years, including the Queen's 90th Birthday and her Platinum Jubilee. How important Emma was to the Queen could also be seen at her funeral. There the pony stood beside Royal Stud Manager Terry Pendry - the monarch's saddle pad and a silk headscarf on Her Majesty's back.

The horse was at the Queen's side for 13 years. "Her Majesty adored Emma," quoted the BBC as Pendry, who was unable to attend the ceremony. "She is easy to ride and sure footed. Emma always enjoyed a carrot from a brown paper bag after riding." The last ride of the two had taken place in July.
