The acting legend Christiane Hörbiger is dead. As the Austrian newspaper "Kurier" reports, the actress died at the age of 84 on Wednesday morning in Vienna. Christiane Hörbiger comes from one of the most famous German-speaking families of artists and was active into old age. In one of her last productions she acted in the ORF film series "Stadtkomödie" in the edition "Der Fall der Gerti B." in 2019.

Hörbiger was born in Vienna in 1938 as the daughter of the acting couple Attila Hörbiger (1896-1987) and Paula Wessely (1907-2000). She was the niece of the Austrian actor Paul Hörbiger (1894-1981). Actor and comedian Christian Tramitz (67) is her second-degree nephew, Mavie Hörbiger (43) is her second-degree niece. The Swiss director Sascha Bigler (54) is her son.

Christiane Hörbiger has acted in numerous film and television productions since the 1950s, including classics such as "Schtonk!", "Danube Stories", "The Legacy of the Guldenbergs" or "Julia - An Unusual Woman". In her long career, she has won almost all the important prizes in her industry, such as the Golden Camera, the Romy, the Bambi, the German Film Prize and the Adolf Grimme Prize.
