In the case of Fabio De Masi (Left), Danyal Bayaz (Greens) and Florian Toncar (FDP), the answer is simple, if not particularly amusing: All three have a genuine interest in clarifying the Wirecard scandal.

And they got together as a team, despite different political beliefs. A cross-faction chain of three that quickly earned the nickname "boy band".
