Traffic: Bahn Supervisory Board: Board of Directors should examine Schenker sale

The board of directors of Deutsche Bahn is to "examine and prepare" the complete sale of the logistics subsidiary DB Schenker. The Deutsche Bahn Supervisory Board issued a corresponding order to the Group Management at its meeting.

"The concrete start of a sales process and the manner of a sale will be decided separately at a later date," the company announced. Potential sales proceeds are to remain with Deutsche Bahn and be used to reduce the company's debt.

From the point of view of the supervisory board, the sale would further promote the concentration on the core business of the railway, it said. However, the sale has not yet been finally decided. This should only take place if it is "financially advantageous compared to DB Schenker remaining in the DB Group".
