A look at the train station bookstores with their huge range of magazines full of Christmas recipes - how are almost all of them advertised? As "stress free". Like that's the most important thing. As if we were all overwhelmed. As if Christmas meant nothing to us and we were all idiots. As if the loveliest party of the year – where we also give gifts from the kitchen – is there for little more than chilling. What a pity. And also how cowardly.
