The Zamora Civil Guard has announced the red-handed arrest of the alleged perpetrator of a forest fire crime in the Alta Sanabria region. The Benemérita herself has confirmed, in a note sent to the media, that it is a person of Portuguese nationality who was intercepted when "he was preparing to start a new focus."

The agents have intensified prevention work in this area, specifically in the towns of Hermisende, Lubián and San Ciprián, which are considered "sensitive areas" in relation to fires. This greater vigilance has made it possible to focus the investigations and locate the alleged perpetrator of the events on the ground.

In the aforementioned operation, the agents observed a column of smoke in an area of ​​difficult access and bordering Portugal, where two fire attempts had occurred.

There the supposed author was surprised at the moment of trying to cause a fire.

"The quick intervention of the agents was able to prevent the fire from spreading rapidly, and the fire was extinguished by themselves, without specifying on this occasion the support of the Fire Extinguishing Service of the Junta de Castilla y León," they have indicated. from the Civil Guard. The person investigated as the alleged perpetrator was placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction and First Instance number 1 of Puebla de Sanabria.

For its part, Seprona keeps the investigation open in order to determine if the person under investigation could be related to other forest fires that occurred in the same area.
