Joan Garriga (Vox): «Aznar's PP perpetrated the great betrayal of Catalonia and that is why Vox is now the fourth force here»

Joan Garriga, spokesperson for Vox in the Parliament of Catalonia, considers that the worst thing that happened during his time in the PP was "the Majestic agreement with Aznar that meant the disappearance of the State in Catalonia and a great betrayal." This is one of the consequences that has caused, in his opinion, that Vox has become the fourth political force in the Catalan Parliament, ahead of the PP. Garriga qualifies the Aznar government as a "government of treason" for "the fact of giving everything to Pujol, just to get to the Government", he has affirmed. The deputy believes that "from autonomy to independence there is only one step and currently, there are 17 autonomies."

Along the same lines, Garriga believes that in next year's municipal elections, Vox could overtake the PP in some municipalities and has stated in statements to the COPE Catalonia and Andorra program Converses, with the participation of ABC, that in its formation they will be « delighted that sensible people like those of the PP» give them support in municipalities such as Badalona or Castelldefels, where Xavier García Albiol and Manu Reyes have won in the last elections.

"Vox is the vote of anger, of illusion, of reconstruction, of the reconquest of Spain," he stressed. To add: «We are a transversal vote, we are the hope of Spain».

In relation to the spectacular fact that Catalonia accumulates 42% of the home occupations that occur throughout Spain, he defends extending the 24-hour period that the law provides for the occupation to be considered permitted "up to 3 months for that there is a true will to prosecute the crime and not the current progressive permissibility ».

This Saturday, the spokesperson for Vox has assured that, if they become decisive in the Barcelona City Council, they will do "the opposite of what the current mayor, Ada Colau, has done." Garriga believes that it is necessary to put an end to the "tourism-phobia that burns buses with tourists inside" because tourism is the main sector that generates GDP and, therefore, "there should be no limits on cruise ships" in addition to the fact that "there should be rebuild large luxury hotels, like the one that was going to be built between Diagonal and Paseo de Gracia».

Garriga has stated that Vox intends to "reverse the policies of Colau and Collboni's PSC against the progress of Barcelona." He considers that the city is currently "shameful". He complains that Colau, for example, wants to cut the hours of the beach bars for the festival of San Juan when "you can be on the beach until 6 in the morning, with music and there will be alcohol." Meanwhile, he points out that the municipal authorities go against "the beach bars that generate work, pay taxes and for those who sell on the beach, total tolerance", he has lamented.

Regarding language policy, Garriga believes that "the solution is for Vox to rule in Spain." "A national language law is necessary to guarantee that Spanish can be used throughout the Spanish territory." He assures that "it is clear that the separatists do not want to respect the bilingual reality of Catalonia." Vox's spokesman in Parliament has also stated that "the 25% law is ridiculous." "It means giving4 Spanish language and one more subject, and the separatists don't even want to comply with that," Garriga pointed out, referring to the breach of the law by the Minister of Education, Josep González-Cambray, against whom they have sued. "The only way out that remains for us is judicial protection and that is not prosecuting politics," Garriga assured in the face of the accusations that they often receive of prosecuting politics.

Faced with what he considers the distance and "neglect" of the central government in relation to Catalonia, the Vox politician has advocated the abolition of the autonomies to make "a second transition" and "give the management powers to the municipalities, which are the closest administrations.
