Ford in Valencia will activate a 'mini-shift' at the engine plant on Sunday night to respond to the increase in demand from the United States.

According to the UGT-PV union, majority in the factory, they want to show that the workforce is prepared to respond to the needs of the company, in full waiting time before the decision of which European plant, whether the German Saarlouis or the one in Almussafes, comes out the winner in the struggle for the allocation of new electrical.

The union speaks of a 'mini-shift' because there will be a hundred employees who will carry out some 400 engines at the plant, reactivating a shift that had been abolished in 2016.

The representatives of the workers follow the process of meetings with the management of the plant, especially due to the instability generated by the ERTE due to the lack of components on the international market.

The Valencian factory will stop production in Vehicle Operations from Monday 16 to Friday 20 May and Engine Machining during this weekend, among other changes to the ERTE calendar, due to the fact that "the tensions of the chain continue of component supplies, aggravated by the geopolitical situation in Eastern Europe".

This was transferred by the management of the company to the unions in a new meeting this past Tuesday of the mixed commission for monitoring the ERTE of Ford Spain, which is in force until June 30 due to the shortage of components and microchips.
