The Berlin rapper Fler has been sentenced again. The Tiergarten district court found the musician guilty of assault, insult, threats, property damage and public incitement to commit crimes on Wednesday. It sentenced the 40-year-old to one year and four months imprisonment on probation. In addition, the musician has to pay 10,000 euros to a non-profit organization. The sentence included a now final ten-month suspended sentence, which was imposed in March 2021 for insulting the rapper, among other things.

The musician, whose real name is Patrick Losensky, attacked, threatened and insulted a television crew in March 2020. This had tried to interview him as he was leaving a shop on Berlin's Kurfürstendamm. He hit the cameraman in the face and destroyed the camera. Other insults and threats that the rapper had made mostly on social media were also accused.

Fler did not appear on Wednesday, which is why negotiations were held in his absence. On the first day of the trial a week ago, however, he had already admitted the allegations made. In doing so, the presiding judge Franziska Bauersfeld said in the verdict that he had kept his part of the agreement.

Fler, the public prosecutor and the court had therefore reached an agreement according to which he was promised a suspended sentence of between 14 and 18 months for a confession. The rapper has multiple convictions.

With its verdict, the expanded lay court fell just short of the demands of the public prosecutor, who had applied for 18 months' probation. The musician's defense attorney did not make a specific request.
