Next June 6 and 7, the traditional Jury Meeting will be held in Valencia to decide the six winners of the 34th Edition of the Rei Jaume I Awards 2022 in the different categories: Basic Research, Economics, Medical Research, Environmental Protection , New Technologies and Entrepreneur.

This year, the jury for the awards will be made up of nearly a hundred people, of whom 21 are Nobel Prize winners in different disciplines, three of whom will attend for the first time as a jury in Valencia. They are Dr. Paul Milgron, 2020 Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences (USA), Dr. David Julius, 2021 Nobel Prize in Medicine (USA) and Dr. David McMillan, 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry ( SCOTLAND).

Until the deadline for submitting applications, on April 5, 182 applications were received at the Foundation's headquarters, divided into the following categories: Basic Research (26), Economics (15), Medical Research (38), Environment (21), New Technologies (24) and Entrepreneur (38). Among the senders are prestigious professors from universities, academic institutions and researchers from national research centers.

The Jury Meeting is the only event in Europe that brings together such a considerable number of Nobel Prize winners. In addition, like every year, the jury will have the presence of the country's main businessmen and women, as is customary every year in the Entrepreneur jury.

On the first day, this year on June 6, the Nobel Prize winners will visit numerous institutes and research centers of interest. The next day, June 7, the day will start at the Captaincy General with the reading of the "Declaration" of the Nobel Prize winners. Afterwards, the jury meetings will take place in which the six winners of the 34th edition will be deliberated. After her, the winners will be proclaimed in the Palau de la Generalitat by the President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig.
