Despite the fact that the young rent bonus came into force in January of this year, it was not until this month of June when the autonomous communities have published the applications to be able to access the aid of 250 euros.

Almost 8 months after the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced the measure, it has only been launched in the Valencian Community and Catalonia, although it is expected that this month the majority of autonomies will have the call ready.

The measure aims to facilitate the emancipation of young people between 18 and 35 years of age with low incomes. However, many will be left out of the aid due to the high number of people who meet the requirements compared to the few subsidies that can be given with the agreed budget.

In fact, Catalonia has already demanded that the Government double the amount of 29 million allocated for the young rent bonus. According to the Minister of Social Rights of the Generalitat, Violant Cervera, it is a "poorly dimensioned and poorly financed" aid.

The aid has 200 million euros budgeted for all of Spain that are distributed by autonomous communities. Catalonia corresponds to 29 million, 14.5%, which in the eyes of the Generalitat is "absolutely insufficient". As explained by Cervera, the number of rental homes in the community (25% of the total in Spain) and the proportion of young people, which stands at 17%.
