Ricky Ponting, former Australia captain and great batting player, has stated that "sky is the limit for Pakistan all-format skipper Babar Azam."

Ricky Ponting praised Babar Azam's record in the last four seasons and predicted that the number T20I/ODI batter would be a contender to become the number one Test batter.

"He (Babar Azam), has been great in T20I cricket, as well in the past. His white-ball cricket performance over the past four-five years has been unsurpassed.

"I believe I said that then that the sky is the limit for this guy. Ponting stated that it was only a matter time before he would be the No.1 Test batter in the world, or at least challenging for it.

Babar Azam currently ranks number one in T20 and in ODIs, while he is number nine in Test rankings. He has 750 rating points.

Ponting also spoke of the time when Babar was playing against Starc, Cummins, and Hazlewood in Brisbane.

"I don’t get to see many of these guys other than when they tour Australia," he said.
