Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo broke his right foot and will be out of the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers for the remainder of the season. This was announced by coach Kyle Shanahan after the 33:17 against the Miami Dolphins.

Garoppolo was injured early in the game when he was knocked down by an opponent. The injury is a heavy blow for the recently highly traded 49ers and their playoff ambitions. Garoppolo initially lost his starting place, but has played well since Trey Lance's injury.

On Sunday, NFL freshman Brock Purdy came into play for him.
