Labour gets the worst choice since 1935

Jeremy Corbyns Labour stands to gain fewer seats in the house of Commons than at any election since the Second world War.

The uk party of Labour stands at a historic valglussing by Thursday's elections to the lower House.

on Friday morning, it is clear that the party gets the lowest number of seats in an election to the house of Commons since 1935.

With 648 of the 650 constituencies counted, Labour won 203 seats. So far, the worst Labour result since the Second world War was in 1983, when the party got 209 seats in the house of Commons.

The cementing, hence, a major electoral defeat for Labour, which have lost seats, as the party would otherwise have had in generations. At least 18 seats, which since 1945 has sent a Labour member in the house of Commons, is lost for the party.

Even in the area, known as The "Red Wall", where Labour has traditionally been able to count on a sure victory, the party lost votes to the conservatives.

for Example, Labour lost the battle on the square from the constituency of Rother Valley, who would otherwise have voted Labour since the constituency was created in 1918.

- It is obviously a very disappointing night for Labour, said the party leader Jeremy Corbyn, according to news agency Reuters, as the results ran into the night to Friday.

Corbyn has even been re-elected with a huge majority in his constituency of Islington North.

But he says that he's not going to lead Labour to the next election. He will resign as party leader after a "period of reflection".

He says according to the tv station the BBC on election night, that brexit has "polarized" the Uk's political life and "failed to fulfil so much of the normal political debate".

- I recognise that it has contributed to the results, as Labour has received this evening across the country, said Corbyn.

Among his party colleagues in the Labour party has, however, sounded criticism of his leadership.

His ambiguous attitude to the election's big questions - the british withdrawal from the EU have caused anger and confusion among many voters, says the criticism.
