Volleyball Bundesliga: BR Volleys win 3-0 at VC Olympia

The Berlin Volleys ended the first half of the Bundesliga season with a mandatory victory. As expected, the German champions asserted themselves 3-0 (25:17, 25:23, 25:16) against the still winless VC Olympia Berlin without a number of regular players on Saturday, but did not offer a convincing performance against the youth team from Hohenschönhausen for long stretches . With the optimum number of points of 24 from eight games, the BR Volleys remain leaders in the Bundesliga.

The volleys had occupied two fundamentally important positions. The Brazilian Matheus Krauchuk was allowed to play on the diagonal position, while the Australian Arash Donsanjh, who was only signed at the beginning of the week, directed the game. In addition, coach Cedric Enard had to give his assistant Lucio Oro the place on the sidelines again after a corona infection.

In the second sentence in particular, the performance of the German champions was anything but sovereign. In the meantime, the disrespectful VCO youngsters were able to pull away with a three-point lead. It was only immediately after the second technical time-out that the favorites equalized the 13:16 deficit with a series of serves by Finland's Antti Ronkainen and narrowly retained the upper hand at the end of the round.

In the third set, Krauchuk set the course for BR Volleys to win early with an ace to make it 14:10. The previously fierce resistance on the other side eased a little. In the end, Krauchuk converted the second match ball. Ronkainen was the winner's best attacker with 13 points. Felix Baumann, who was only 17 years old, also achieved this success rate on the VCO side.
