In recent years, Spain has become a true reference worldwide in terms of blood donation. To continue encouraging it among the population, the Community of Madrid has just launched the campaign 'You are one meter away from saving many lives', with which they intend to give away free movie tickets so that citizens can donate blood at the authorized Metro stations.

This latest edition aims to recover the work on blood donation that was interrupted after the coronavirus pandemic. The intention, they say from the Community, is to once again increase blood reserves, which are currently at very low levels.

This joint campaign with the Regional Transfusion Center, the Red Cross and Coca-Cola will try to make the donation process much easier and more accessible for the entire population.

That is why it has been decided that the mobile units are located in transit areas for all citizens, such as the busiest Metro stations in different areas of the city of Madrid.

To be a blood donor you need to meet a series of requirements:

The nine Metro stations that have been selected for this campaign are Embajadores, Nuevos Ministerios, Puerta del Sur, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Ciudad Universitaria, Legazpi, Ciudad Lineal, Getafe Central and Leganés Central.

Some of them, located near university centers, aim to motivate the youngest to join the blood donation processes again.
