Vienna: lost dog reunited with family after seven years

A family from Nuremberg got their dog back seven years after she disappeared in Vienna. The owners traveled to the Austrian capital a few days ago to receive the now aged Pekinese lady named Suzi in the city's animal quarters, as the spokeswoman for the animal shelter told the German Press Agency on Thursday.

The family had been looking for Suzi since April 2015. They tied the animal in front of a shop when they were in Vienna. When they came back after shopping it was gone.

After the suspected theft, searches in the media were unsuccessful. However, in November, the little black dog was taken to the shelter by authorities. This happens, for example, when an owner can no longer take care of his animal for health reasons, said the spokeswoman, without giving the reason in this case.

In the animal quarters, the animal's name could be read from an implanted chip. After the animal shelter was looking for new owners for "Hundeoma Suzi" on social media, a user who remembered the case of the missing dog reported. After that, the family was located in Nuremberg. "I never gave up hope of seeing Suzi again," the shelter quoted the owner as saying. "It was an indescribable situation to see her again after all these years and to hug her," she said.
