Johnson expresses to Zelensky his concern about the rise in food prices due to the war

MADRID, 19 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has addressed this Thursday during a telephone conversation with the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, the situation in Ukraine and has expressed his "serious concern" about the rise in food prices precisely because of the war .

Both have addressed the military support sent by the United Kingdom and global food security. Thus, Zelenski has informed Johnson about the latest events in the Donbas region, in the east of the country, and the fight to "recover all the sovereign territory of Ukraine" while facing disinformation from Russia.

Johnson, for his part, has transferred his "greatest admiration" to Zelensky for his actions and that of the defenders of the city of Mariupol and has highlighted the importance of Russia treating prisoners of war with "dignity and respect", according to a statement from Downing Street.

In addition, they have talked about the progress made in the negotiations and have agreed to continue working with the allies, especially with the United States, France and Germany, and have considered the possibility of opening new roads to restore the transport of food and grain.
