Because of a "dangerous situation" at a school, the police in Siegburg (near Bonn) are on a large scale operation. According to the information, an armed person was seen on the premises of the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Realschule, and banging noises are said to have been heard. After the officers arrived, the remains of ignited fireworks were found there.

In the meantime, however, there has been a cautious all-clear: "Currently, the police have no knowledge that the person seen by witnesses went to school," it said. The person is being searched for, and a helicopter is also in use. To be on the safe side, the school is being searched by special forces.

According to the police, the students locked themselves in the classrooms with their teachers. The police called for the area around the school to be avoided on a large scale, and the area was cordoned off.

The Alexander-von-Humboldt-Realschule is located on the same site as other educational institutions. Around 540 pupils attend the Realschule. 38 teachers are employed there.
