In the trial of the mother of a dead baby found in a rubbish bin, the defendant has confessed to killing the child. She did not notice the pregnancy, said the 24-year-old on Thursday at the beginning of the proceedings at the Mönchengladbach District Court.

She had a stomach ache and took a cold shower. Suddenly the child's head appeared between her legs. After the newborn started crying, she hit it against something, but she couldn't remember what against. The seller is charged with murder. The police had given the child the name Rabea.

Dressed in a white blouse and black jacket, the defendant said she had no recollection of putting the baby's body in a public trash can. She also does not know who cleaned the bathroom.

The dead newborn girl was discovered on March 28th. In the search for the parents, the police in Mönchengladbach had tracked down the mother through a DNA series test in the vicinity of the site. The Polish nationals took part voluntarily. She had already confronted the police.
