Air traffic: BER expects more than 1.1 million passengers

The next wave of travel is coming up at the capital’s airport BER: The operators expect around 1.1 million passengers for the autumn holidays from Friday to November 6th, as airport boss Aletta von Massenbach said on Wednesday. The daily passenger volume during the holiday season is between 60,000 and 80,000 passengers.

The airport company sees itself well positioned for the high demand, emphasized von Massenbach. However, staff shortages and the narrow airspace remained a challenge. "The staffing level at our process partners is sufficient, but overall not very extensive either," stressed the airport manager. Short-term sick leave could make processes more difficult, especially at peak times.

For a smooth check-in, the airport's operational manager, Thomas Hoff Anderson, recommended that passengers download the airport app and the programs of the relevant airlines. He also referred to the possibility of checking in luggage early and booking slots for the security check.
