Coastal fisherman Heddi (Anneke Kim Sarnau) is self-confident and tough. It has to be, because cutter fishing has never been an easy business. And in times of overfishing, it can hardly make ends meet. But Heddi can't be beaten. She has only one weak point: her daughter Eva (Zoe Moore). She is an environmental activist and just as combative as her mother. There has been radio silence between the two for years. But now Eva, who lives in the big city, unexpectedly turns up with her son Jannis (Lewe Wagner) in the small Baltic Sea village.
If there is something that drives detective Viktoria Lorentzen (Lena Dörrie) crazy, it is the chaotic nature of her sister Feli (Caroline Hanke). But suddenly the two have to work together. Viktoria is expecting her younger sister to attend her father's burial at sea. Soon she is annoyed by the chaotic Feli: not only does she come too late, but also in a baggy look on the ship. While working on the Hubble telescope, the space shuttle belonging to scientist Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) and her crew is destroyed by space debris. A fight for survival begins.
