BRENTFORD CONFIRM SIGNING CHRISTIAN RIKSEN

Brentford FC has confirmed the signing of Christian Eriksen from Denmark, subject to international clearance. After a medical evaluation, the 29-year old signed his contract. He signed his contract until the end the 2021/22 season.

Christian has been playing European football at the highest level for over a decade. He was a star in the Premier League, playing for Tottenham Hotspur. Christian played 26 games in Inter's Milan side that won the Italian top flight, for the first time since 2011.

Christian has been a key member of the Denmark team for over a decade. He has won 109 caps and scored 36 goal. Christian was taken to hospital in cardiac arrest during his last match against Finland at the UEFA European Championship match. For the past seven months, he has been absent from the game.

Thomas Frank, Brentford FC's Head Coach, is familiar with the attacking midfielder. Thomas Frank was the coach of Christian's Under-17 team in Denmark. He quickly rose through the ranks and made his debut for Denmark at age 18.

Thomas Frank stated: "I look forward to working again with Christian. It's been quite some time since I last worked with him. A lot has happened. Christian was just 16 years old at the time. He has since become one of the most prominent midfielders in the Premier League. He has won numerous trophies across Europe and is the star of the Danish national soccer team.

"We are extremely fortunate to have a World Class player come to Brentford. He has been working hard on his own, but he has not trained with a team in seven months. He is healthy, but we need to make him match-fit. I look forward to watching him work with the staff and players to get back to his best level.

Christian can dictate football games at his best. He is an excellent goal threat and can make the right passes. He is also very skilled in set piece delivery. This includes both direct free kicks and corners. He can be found with the ball and will find a solution. Christian brings a wealth of experience from top-level football to the Club. He will be a valuable addition to the Club's Training Ground and dressing room.

Phil Giles, Brentford Director for Football, stated that Christian was first brought up when Inter announced that Christian would be leaving Inter. It's amazing that he is here now.

"Naturally, the process of signing Christian took longer than other transfers. Many people will have questions. We won't reveal any details in order to protect Christian's medical confidentiality. Brentford supporters can be assured that we have done all possible to ensure that Christian is healthy and ready to play competitive football again. Christian has signed for Brentford. All parties now want to concentrate on football.

"We are certain that Christian will have a huge impact on Brentford and the Premier League between now & the end of this season."

Christian is working out with AFC Ajax's young players in Amsterdam as he works on his fitness. The transfer was completed while the Dutch midfielder was still in The Netherlands. Christian recently received his COVID-19 vaccine. He will be traveling to West London in the next few days to meet the UK entry requirements. He will not train this week with Brentford because he has already been vaccinated.

Christian played his first professional football at Ajax. He won three league titles, a Dutch Cup, and a Dutch Super Cup. After that, he moved to Tottenham. In six-and-a half years living in North London, the Danish international made 305 appearances for Spurs in
Premier League games, playing 226 of them.
Five-time Danish Footballer Of The Year, the five-time winner was with Inter for 18 months before he left to join the current Italian champions in Dec.
