"House of the Dragon": Second season is shorter than the first

The first season of the "Game of Thrones" offshoot "House of the Dragon" delighted fans and critics alike. The US industry website "Deadline" now wants to have found out exclusive details about the second season, which probably shouldn't inspire everyone. This will not consist of ten episodes like season one, but only eight.

According to the report, it was initially intended that the new season would also include ten episodes. In the course of working on the screenplays, however, it was shortened by two episodes, as a spokesman for the producing broadcaster HBO "Deadline" is said to have confirmed. This allegedly has nothing to do with an attempt to reduce the costs for the complex series.

This is also supported by a report that recently made the rounds. As showrunner Ryan Condal (43) promised earlier this month at a screening event in Los Angeles, the second season of "House of the Dragon" will again increase the number of dragons. "You will meet five new dragons," Condal said, literally, according to The Hollywood Reporter. A total of nine of the mighty creatures had already appeared in the first ten episodes.

According to the report, filming for the second season will start soon in Great Britain. There is no official start date yet, but the new episodes are not expected to be broadcast until summer 2024 at the earliest.

Far more positive prospects already seem to prevail regarding a potential third season. An official order for season three is probably only a matter of time, the work on scripts and production plans as well as castings for this are already planned for the near future.
