Podcast "The Boss - Power is Female": "Peace is more than the absence of war" - how the Ukraine war is changing security in Europe

Claudia Major is currently a sought-after woman. For more than a year she has been explaining to a wide audience how the war in Ukraine came about and what it means for us as a society. Major is on the Advisory Board for Civil Crisis Prevention at the Federal Foreign Office and Head of Research for Security Policy at the Science and Politics Foundation. She appears on talk shows and news programs - and thus replaces the former specialists, former high-ranking military officers, as security and defense experts.

In the stern podcast "Die Boss", Major explains that the Russian attack on Ukraine did not come as a complete surprise: "Observing and analyzing Russian politics in recent years, one could see that Russia is ready to go to war in order to assert his interests."

In an interview with "Die Boss" hostess Simone Menne, Major emphasizes how drastic this war is for order in Europe and the world, which Chancellor Scholz described as a "turning point". "That's such a delicate word for a fundamental break we're going through right now," says Major.

"Ultimately, this war will deal with the basic question of how states will deal with each other in the future. Does the law of the strongest apply?" said the security expert. That would mean that states like China could follow an example in order to further expand their influence.

The question that Germany and other countries must now ask is how security in Europe can be created in the future. "There is the sad lesson that there will no longer be security with Russia in the foreseeable future, but rather we have to organize protection from Russia," explains the defense expert.

In this episode of "Die Boss" you will learn how this protection should work, what threats we will have to prepare for in the future and how the war in Ukraine will change our society.

At "The Boss - Power is Female" top women speak among themselves: hostess and member of the supervisory board Simone Menne (including BMW, Deutsche Post DHL, Henkel) meets female bosses from all areas of society to talk to them about their lives and careers. "Die Boss" appears fortnightly on Wednesdays on stern.de and the stern YouTube channel as well as on RTL and all common podcast platforms.
