"Hagen": These are the stars of the Nibelungen film adaptation

The first main actors of "Hagen" have been chosen. According to a statement from Constantin Film, Dutchman Gijs Naber (42) plays the title role in the adaptation of the Nibelung. Jannis Niewöhner (30, "Narcissus and Goldmund") embodies his adversary Siegfried. Newcomer Lilja van der Zwaag is Kriemhild, Dominic Marcus Singer (29) is Gunter. The Dortmund "Tatort" commissioner Jörg Hartmann (53) and actress Jördis Triebel (44) are supporting actors.

"Hagen" is planned both as a cinema film and as a six-part series for RTL. The two projects should differ in the narrative perspective.

"Hagen" is based on the novel "Hagen von Tronje" by the Weimar writer Wolfgang Hohlbein (69). In the book, the successful fantasy author reinterprets the medieval Nibelungen saga. In it Hagen von Tronje, in most variants of the saga the villain, is the tragic hero. The warrior Siegfried is an upstart who disturbs order at court in Worms. Hagen also falls in love with Kriemhild, who in turn loves Siegfried.

Cyrill Boss (47) and Philipp Stennart direct the Nibelungen project. The duo recently staged the two seasons of the powerful Sky series "Der Pass".
