The Berlinale also wants to show a documentary film with the band U2 at the festival in February. The musicians are then also expected at the film festival in Berlin, as announced by the festival management.

The film "Kiss the Future" tells of the struggle of the people of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War. It is told how the employee of an aid organization was able to win over one of the biggest rock bands with U2 in order to create worldwide attention for the cruel war and the suffering of the population.

The documentary is to run in the Berlinale Special series. Along with Cannes and Venice, the Berlinale is one of the major film festivals; the next edition will take place from February 16th to 26th. A number of other films from this year's program were announced on Wednesday.

Director Ilker Çatak ("The spoken word counts") is also represented in the Panorama with his new film "The Teacher's Room". Actress Leonie Benesch ("Babylon Berlin") plays in it. Also in the program is a documentary film about the musician Joan Baez.

The films are not in the running for the Golden Bear - the competition entries are not to be announced until Monday.
