After separation: Natalia Klitschko wants to change her last name

Natalia Klitschko also wants to use her name to make the separation from her husband Vitali clear.

"I'll go back to my old last name," the 48-year-old tells Der Spiegel. "People should know that I bore the name Klitschko, but I don't want them to call me ex-wife for years anymore. I want them to say: This is Natalia Yegorova, whom we have known as Natalia for 25 years knew Klitschko."

The mayor of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, and his wife, who lives in Germany, had announced that they were getting a divorce. "It is the wish of both sides," the 51-year-old told the Ukrainian website "Babel" in August.

Vitali and Natalia have two sons and one daughter. The two married 26 years ago in April 1996 in Kyiv.

Before entering Ukrainian politics, Vitali Klitschko was a multiple world heavyweight boxing champion. Together with his brother Wladimir, who is five years his junior, he dominated professional boxing for years. The Klitschkos are particularly closely connected to the city of Hamburg, where their world boxing careers began.
