Mr. Weiss, the Corona-crisis is supposed to be good for the environment. Traffic, fine dust and light pollution. Astronomers have a tent at the moment a better view of the sky?

Me, personally, is not noticed with the telescope still, but that's due to the fact that I'm not in the big city live. Generally speaking, it is true that, for us, the view is better and clearer to astronomers, if there are fewer cars and industry. But that can be said better in the big city.

it Is, for example, on the pigeon mountain, you can see with the naked eye that the three Smog via Munich, Rosenheim and Miesbach slightly less. Because there is less fine dust and lights. The direction of the Alps has on pigeon mountain, but is actually always a good point of view, because it is dark. To me, the full moon only interferes with often, is too bright. The can, unfortunately, turn off none.

What could be off from your point of view?

What my colleagues and me increasingly annoying, are the many satellites that are currently being sent into space, even in the last desert Internet. They pull like a string of pearls across the sky and always Shine. As a result, our vision is impaired. The ISS (Anm. d. editors: currently the only constantly manned space station), you can see, by the way, as a point.

Spend in Corona waiting more time with your private star?

I am now working more from home, but my children are now more at home (laughs).

If you can in between through your telescope luren: What do you watch there just so?

The sun is just boring, because you see no sun spots. The colder and darker areas, which form good contrasts, and otherwise the beautiful photos allow. The sun has an Eleven-year cycle. This means that every eleven years the sun spots on the increase.

On which celestial phenomenon, we can look forward in the near future?

in Principle, one can observe in the summer the milky way is more beautiful, because it rises to the higher.

And the many shooting stars in August?

This is more of a deck-chair astronomers. For us, astronomers with the telescope, the desperate always after the best photo is not so great. As you can see at the end of most lines in the image.

What was your best snap shot in the last time?

The Orion nebula, which I find very nice that you can see with the naked eye. But this is a classic Winter constellation.

your next project?

I build with friends, a second Observatory on La Palma. This is one of the best places in the world, because it is there quasi by law dark.

What's in the stars for Corona-crisis actually say? How long do we have to keep it?

I'm not an astrologer (laughs). A little anecdote: I'm with my family vacationing on the Baltic sea. And on the beach of Travemünde we have seen today a container ship with the inscription "Corona Sea". No, but jokes aside. The Coronavirus is dangerous, we should all take care and hope it clears soon. Star or not.

This is a philosophical question. Let's just say: If I'm sitting at my PC, I can control my Observatory, and will do what I say, I'm relaxed. I do this outside on my terrace, I feel safe in front of Corona.
