A decree issued Saturday, 25 July in the official Journal allows nursing graduates of State, students of odontology, maieutics and pharmacy, the nurses, the firefighters, the sailors firemen and rescuers of the approved associations of civil security holders adequate training in first aid practice samples for the screening tests of the Covid-19. This measure has been taken by the government to alleviate the shortage of manpower in the laboratories. It is also intended that the tests, even without a prescription, will be covered by health Insurance. A test will cost 54 euros.
The government has already broadened the possibility of the levies, originally reserved only for medical biologists, to 40 000 laboratory technicians. It is testing virological PCR for which the waiting times are now too long in many areas, notably in the Île-de-France, where the lack of arm and strong demand lead to quasi-saturation. A problem that could be accentuated while France has recently enhanced its system of screening by making testing mandatory at airports for travelers from 16 countries classified as " red ".
