A pedestrian was hit by a car on Sunday evening on federal highway 53 in the Trier-Saarburg district and died. The driver, who was traveling from Schweich towards Trier, only saw the 51-year-old at the last moment, the police said. The 69-year-old driver tried to dodge, but his vehicle still hit the man. He died at the scene of the accident. The police called on witnesses to provide information about the pedestrian and the course of the accident.
