The Civil Guard investigates a person as the author of a crime of fraud through the Internet, for selling false tickets for the UEFA Champions League final. The investigated, a resident of Arroyomolinos (Madrid), would have earned a total of 1,500 euros with the scam. So far there are 15 victims located in Ávila, Murcia, Cáceres, Madrid, Alicante, Ciudad Real, Bilbao, Navarra and Valencia, the Civil Guard has reported.

The investigation began on May 25, after the complaint of a person from Ávila who had been scammed when he bought two tickets online to see the match between Real Madrid and Liverpool at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid.

The investigators of the Entrafador operation verified how this deceived person had bought the tickets on a portal for the sale of second-hand items.

In addition, the victim had made the payment through an online service provider.

Continuing with the investigations, the agents discovered that there was not only one victim, but also at least 14 other people from the provinces of Murcia, Cáceres, Madrid, Alicante, Ciudad Real, Bilbao, Navarra and Valencia.

To some of them, the scammer had sold fake tickets to go to Paris to watch the football match. It was the Civil Guard itself who warned these people that they had been victims of a scam. The total money swindled would have amounted to a total of 1,500 euros.

This operation has been carried out by the team of the Avila Civil Guard Command, a recently created group dedicated to fighting cybercrime and, in particular, combating internet scams or computer fraud.

The Civil Guard has explained that if someone believes that they may have been a victim of this type of scam, it is very important to file the corresponding complaint, regardless of the amount swindled, by going personally to the Civil Guard, taking with them all the possible documentation along with the conversations maintained.
