Last Thursday, a guest bobsled crashed into a double tubular ring at the finish line of the toboggan run. A 45-year-old man died in one of the air-filled rubber rings, so-called ice tubes. His 41-year-old passenger in the other ring was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators have video of an eyewitness filming the start of the bobsled. According to an employee of the Thuringian winter sports center special purpose association, it can be seen that the traffic light was green when the bobsled started.
