Why is it worth learning to cook and what options are there for this? Here are some practical tips to get you started.

Personal taste decides that. There are actually no limits, because with a little practice even complex dishes can be made. A good tip is to start with a favorite dish. For example, you could prepare a favorite dish from childhood. Parents or grandparents give the recipe for free. If you're lucky you'll get it right the first time, otherwise you can try to level up and get close to the original. This little exercise will help you just get started and not overthink the process. If you have been cooking little or reluctantly, the best tip is to just try it out and not be afraid to make mistakes. That doesn't exist in (hobby) cooking.
